About our Acadiana Local Hero!

Why this finalist was deserving of Acadian's Local Hero.
Bonnie Hession started a movement. It's called Keep the Faith. She finds people who need prayer or help and then Bonnie goes to them and offers a Keep the Faith token, but more than that she offers her prayers and concerns. I came to know about her when my dad was near death in the hospital. He was visiting me when he got sick and knew no one other than my family in the area. Bonnie's visit affected him in such a positive way. It uplifted him and boosted his spirits. I will always be grateful to her for that, but since then, I've learned how much more Bonnie does for others. She has what she calls Giving Mondays where she makes her rounds of hospitals and shut-ins to offer prayer and company. She raised money and went to Oklahoma after the tornadoes and helped provide comfort and other help there for people who need it. She just keeps on doing for others. Bonnie is truly an Acadiana hero.

How Bonnie's efforts have made a difference in the community for the better.
She spreads hope, comfort, strength and joy to people who need it. She truly makes a difference in the lives of those she touches...and she just keeps on touching lives.

How becoming Acadiana's Local Hero will further Bonnie's cause.
I have no doubt that Bonnie will use the recognition and reward to further the giving to others that she does. $3,000 could sustain 60 Giving Monday gifts and help her with the work she does for critically ill children as well. Additionally, I believe she's interested in formalizing her Keep the Faith organization into a 501C3. This reward/recognition could help expedite that process.
